On Saturday, April 28, members of the St. John Fisher Faith Family will join several other volunteers from the local community to participate in the Christmas in Action work day. Christmas in Action of Oakland County is a volunteer organization providing free home repairs for low-income senior homeowners, allowing them to safely remain in their homes.
Volunteers can expect to work on a senior’s house in Orion, Oxford or Oakland Townships from 8am until about 5pm. Most likely, work will include painting the interior or exterior, landscaping and doing minor electrical and plumbing repairs. As a volunteer, you will be rewarded, not only by witnessing the joy brought to the homeowner, but also by working side-by-side with and getting to know people from local churches and businesses.
To register for the work day, please go to the Christmas in Action of Oakland County website, click on “Application Forms” and download the form. Once you have completed the application, mail it to the address shown. Be sure to indicate “St John Fisher” when filling out the Group Name. Applications are due by mid-April.
