SACRAMENTAL Nature of Parish Focus Area
As a community, we need to strengthen our understanding of the gift of sacramentality which is essential to the essence of the Catholic Church:
  • We need to deepen our understanding that God’s self is revealed in every moment of history, in current events and in the market place: that both “sacred” and “secular” are God-filled.
  • We also need to further enhance our understanding and our experience of the celebration of the seven sacraments and their relationship to the peak moments of our life cycle.

STRATEGIC Nature of Parish Focus Area
As a community, of which Oakland University is a key component, we need to recognize and engage in the energizing tension which exists between our diversity, expressed in the varied background of the community members and in the multiple ministries, and the need to maintain the unity of our community. As Paul reminds us: “Now you together are Christ’s body; but each of you is a different part of it” (I Cor. 12:27).

This challenges us to a constant dialogue and a communal discernment so that each one of us and we as a community may continue the ongoing process of conversion (i.e. the process of dying to become and to grow).

SUSTAINABLE Nature of Parish Focus Area
As a community, with significant participation in and number of outreach activities, we recognize the need to increase the number of people committed to a sharing of time, talents and treasure. As a community, we have been given a lot; much is expected from us, individually and as a community.
We recognize that this commitment to Stewardship takes different forms at different moments of our life, but all of us are called to the same sharing of time, talents and treasure.
