Our approximately thirty
South Oakland Shelter guests said they were overwhelmed by the warmth and
openness of our volunteers. They said everyone was willing to go the extra
mile to help them. Our SOS guests, while at SJF, enjoyed playing softball,
cards, watching movies, talking with SJF members and each other, sharing
in good food and fellowship. Classes were also offered throughout the
week, providing learning opportunities in areas like budgeting and good
parenting, as part of SOS’s commitment to education.
Over 1,800 volunteer
hours were recorded; hours that will be used to ensure matching dollars in
future grant applications for the South Oakland Shelter.
Below is a thank you that
was received from one of this year’s guests:
“Thank all of you so much for the wonderful time and fellowship we had
a great time and enjoyed all of ya'lls company. May all of you there at
St. John Fisher be blessed beyond measure for all that everyone did for
us. We thank you for the rides, the food, games, fellowship and the
acceptance that means the world to us.” – SOS Guest |
