Feast of St Francis Blessing of Pets Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 4:15 PM In honor of the Feast of St. Francis, the Companion Ministers invite you to bring your animal companions for a Blessing of Pets Service. Bring your furry, non-furry, feathered or finned pets and join us outside on the deck on Thursday, October 1 at 4:15 p.m. There will be a prayer service, an individual blessing of each pet, and a blessing for each of us involved in their care and protection. If your pet is unable to attend, bring a picture of your animal to share. Refreshments will follow. If the weather does not cooperate, the service will be held in the chapel gathering space.

The weather was a little damp and the animals showed up two by two, but there was no ark! We had a variety of canines, a few felines and a lone bunny visit SJF. Oops let's not forget the spider that crawled in too! A very special "Thank You" to our companion ministers for hosting the blessing of pets in honor of the feast of St. Francis. Thanks to Fr. Jerry for presiding, Corinne Latcha for planning the prayer and caring for every beautiful detail and to Jan Elbert and Laura Kennedy for their splendid leadership.
