Baptismal Font and New Chapel Entrance

Baptismal fonts are usually located near the entrance of a Catholic Church to remind us of how we originally entered the Church – through Baptism. Our original font required almost all of us to turn around to see it when it was used. We are now trying different locations for the font to see what will work best for the faith family.

Jim Eischeid, a member of the Administration and Building Ministry, has “filled in” the Baptisry and installed oak flooring in the sign of the Cross. The new font, designed by Laura Rangos of the Liturgy Prep Ministry, has been moved to the center of the Cross. The font can be moved up to the altar when necessary. The combination of the new floor and the Font is quite dramatic.

Once the work is completed, the flow in and out of the Chapel should be improved. When the baptismal font is moved to the altar, chairs can be positioned on the new floor to increase seating. The table for the Eucharist, wine and water is in between the two sets of doors, to see if that location reduces the congestion before and after Mass.

Please take some time to look at new font and flooring. Thank you, Laura and Jim, for sharing the blessings of your talents with the rest of the faith family.
