Mission:
Prepare for the community-at-large creative and unique environments for liturgical celebrations of the sacraments, providing and enhancing the context for prayer and reflections.
Objectives:
At monthly meetings, planning the environments for the major liturgical seasons and events including:
- Remembering and conveying the importance of symbolism in ritual/ understanding/traditions e.g. bread on Holy Thursday, daffodils on Good Friday, Servants' Sign on back wall, Banner - Committing Ourselves to Personal Spiritual Growth and Communal Worship., Holy Week Readings, Little Black Books, Mother's Day/Father's Day reflections on scriptures and Communion Meditations, Month of Remembering Offertory Litany of Remembering.
- Supporting the Youth Group's seasonal efforts, e.g. Christmas and Good Friday dramas
- Taking advantage of special enrichment programs and materials for the members of the Art
and Environment Ministry to expand their understanding and knowledge of things that relate to personal growth and liturgical matters.
- Communicating and working as needed with other ministries and families regarding liturgical environment resourced, in part, by the Volunteer Office (Sue Schettenhelm).
- Measuring and evaluating our environment and resources and the effectiveness of our ministry in light of our St. John Fisher Mission and Vision.
Primary Activities:
Liturgy Preparation Members meet several times a year to plan, prepare, and execute all the activities associated with the rotating liturgical seasons. We prepare for activities such as bread on Holy Thursday, daffodils on Good Friday, Holy Week Readings, and Mother/Father Day reflections. We also focus on emphasizing the sacramental aspects of our faith through adult spirituality activities
