SOS Volunteer Opportunities Below is a list of volunteer opportunities for SOS. We need your help to make our guests feel at home. Please use this as a guide to how you might help. Dinner Preparation: buy, prepare, serve, dine with our guests and clean-up after dinner. You will serve with a team of 10. Time Commitment: 5:00p - 9:00p Contact: Louise Borucki (248-373-9652, pl39boruck@)sbcglobal.net) Lunch Preparation: prepare a bag lunch for each guest from donated food items. You will serve with a team of 4. Time Commitment: 7:-00p - 8:00p Contacts: Cary Benitez (248.373-0789, routieri@aol.com), Pat Holt (248.370-0123, pholt@wideopenwest.com), Breakfast Preparation: set out donated breakfast foods, assist guests as needed and clean up after breakfast. You will serve with one other person. Time Commitment: 5:30a - 8:00a Contact: Louise Borucki (248-373-9652, pl39boruck@)sbcglobal.net) Registration / Hospitality: check the guests in as they arrive, provide conversation and remind volunteers to sign - in. Morning Transportation: pick the guests up at St John Fisher and drive them to their jobs or other destination. The Transportation Coordinators will try to group destinations as best as possible. Please make sure your trunk is empty if you are picking up on Sunday morning as the guests will have their belongings with them. You will serve with many others. Evening Transportation: pick the guests up at the SOS office in Royal Oak and bring them to SJF. Please make sure your trunk is empty if you are picking up on Sunday evening as the guests will have their belongings with them. You will serve with many others. Set - Up: One crew of 4 will pick up the shelter supplies in a rented truck from the previous church. Others will meet at SJF and move furniture and set up mattresses. Activities: provide an activity in the evening (e.g., arts and crafts, board game night, card games, haircuts, sing-a-longs, movies, anything that you would enjoy doing with our guests to make their stay more enjoyable). Wednesday Laundry: pick up sheets and towels in the morning (after 8:00a), take them home, wash them and return to SJF by 5:00p. Time Commitment: transport and laundry time Contacts: Libby Molnar (248-375-1359, libmolnar@hotmail.com) Sunday Morning Laundry: pick up sheets and towels at 7:30a in the morning, take them to a laundry mat, wash them and return them to SJF by 12:00 noon. Time Commitment: 7:30a - 12:00 noon (SJF provides funds for the laundry mat) Contacts: Libby Molnar (248-375-1359, libmolnar@hotmail.com) Night Supervision: stay overnight, supervise and socialize with the guests. Donations: food for lunches, toiletries, hotel samplers, gift certificates, candy.
