Mission:

We believe that the gospel calls us to acknowledge the image of God in all persons and to recognize the inherent dignity and worth of all of God’s Creation. We respond by leading our community to responsible action.

Objectives:

  • Provide opportunities for the larger community to assist those in need by sharing our resources of time, talent and treasure and connecting these activities with Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Assess and respond to the needs of those in our own parish and within the Pontiac Area Vicariate.
  • Emphasize our connection with Ellecuria and Kenya throughout the year.
  • Educate the community on social issues and concerns through articles and guest speakers.

Statement of Resource Needs (Time, Talent, Treasure):

Develop new members so that they are willing to take on leadership roles for projects sponsored by the Outreach Ministry. Volunteers are needed to participate in events so that the work load can be shared among many.

Ministry with Community Special Emphasis for 2005-2006:

St. John Fisher Chapel Community wants to pay special attention to the Parish Pastoral Assembly Speak-Up Group recommendations. This will include the summaries of each of the nine topics and the PPA survey results, which will be promulgated at Pentecost 2003.

To continue to offer a variety of projects for individuals and families as witness the gospel mission of our faith.

Primary Activities:

Some of the projects we undertake each year: South Oakland Shelter (a rotating site homeless shelter), Paint the Town, WHRC Preschool Project, Oakland County Food Bank Food and Toiletry Drive, Lighthouse Thanksgiving Food Drive and Summer Lunch Food Drive, Ellecuria Lenten Project, Heifer Project and Alternative Holiday Gifts, Meals on Wheels, two blood drives a year, South Oakland Lunch Program, Habitat For Humanity and Place of Hope (a Pontiac warming center). We also support the Outreach Kenya efforts and the Rochester Area CROP Walk.

Our members meet the first Tuesday of every month (September through June) or as scheduled (check the bulletin).
