Mission:

Demonstrate support and nurturing of our Parish community members in need by providing temporary physical support to them through the services of volunteers from within the SJF community.

Objectives:

  • Identify physical needs of community members.
  • Provide on-call assistance to the SJF community via transportation, meal preparation, snow/yard assistance, light housekeeping, errands, rides to Mass, etc.
  • Continue to promote the mission of the Helping Hands Ministry to the wider community through bulletin articles, mailings and other communication vehicles.
  • Protect the privacy and confidential nature of the needs of parishioners within the SJF community.

Statement of Resource Needs (Time, Talent, Treasure)

  • Identification of potential volunteers through the use of the Time & Talent Survey.
  • Quarterly meetings to debrief and update members on various parishioner needs.
  • Maintain a small budget for related expenses associated with assisting parishioners with their physical requirements.
  • Maintain a current database of ministry members and their related categories of voluntary assistance.

Ministry with Community -Special Emphasis:

For 2004-2005, St. John Fisher Chapel Community wants to pay special attention to the Parish Pastoral Assembly Speak-Up Group recommendations. This will include the summaries of each of the nine topics and the PPA survey results, which was promulgated at Pentecost 2003.

The development of the Helping Hands Ministry is a direct result of the input received from the PPA 2003 input requesting that SJF offer “inreach” services to its own community members.
