Tapestry in Gathering Space

When we were expanding the gathering space in 2001, we wanted to find a way to artistically present the story of St. John Fisher - the saint and the community who bears his name. What we came up with was the hanging tapestry on the large wall in the gathering area. The four panels (totaling 90" by 96") tell the story of St. John Fisher the saint and our SJF faith community.

The tapestry includes St. John Fisher - Bishop of Rochester, England, Chancellor of Cambridge University and Martyr; our roots and relationship with Oakland University as a Campus Ministering Community; our growth and development as a full parish; and finally, our continuing journey of faith, i.e. where it is that the Spirit will call us.
