Mission:
Provide young men with an opportunity
to not only challenge societal values that are contrary to the Gospel,
but to embrace those values that are good for society. Young People
today are correctly being told to “Just say No” to alcohol, smoking,
drugs, etc. Our Troop provides an opportunity for these young people to
“Say Yes!” to positive actions and behaviors.
It is our mission to recognize the good works and deeds that are
performed by the scouts, teach them a variety of skills, including
leadership, challenge their abilities, embrace diversity, and have a
great time in the process.
Objectives:
- Establish and maintain a program
schedule that includes at least one outing every month.
- Provide an environment that fosters
scout stewardship and leadership to the community. Support SJF
activities such as Blood Drives, SOS set up and grounds maintenance.
Participate in the discernment and action phase of the “Speak Up”
process at SJF.
- Make the twelfth point of the Scout
Law, “A Scout is Reverent” an integral part of all of Troop 360
activities. Celebrate diversity and cultural differences as part of
the core values of the unit.
- Provide quality adult leadership to
the youth in the Troop.
Statement of
Resource Needs: (Time, Talent, Treasure)
Resource needs include space for meetings,
time for these meetings, and storage for Troop gear. Talent comes from
the quality leadership we provide for the unit. The Troop is
self-funded through our annual fundraiser and dues. There is a need
for understanding and patience from SJF as the troop consists of 50
young men between the ages of 11 and 18. While teaching young boys to
become young men, they sometimes revert!
Committing
ourselves to personal spiritual growth and communal worship
The troop is committed to making
spirituality a part of the program. Specifically, grace is said before
all meals, “For the good of the House” discussions take place at each
outing, and personal relationship with God is respected as an
individual blessing.
Ministry with
Community - Special Emphasis:
For 2004-2005, St. John Fisher Chapel
Community wants to pay special attention to the Parish Pastoral
Assembly Speak-Up Group recommendations. This will include the
summaries of each of the nine topics and the PPA Survey results, which
were promulgated at Pentecost 2003.
